Well, it happened! This past weekend I attended The Lone Ranger film premiere at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim with my buddy, Nik Roybal. It was so much fun, and my first *huge* red carpet event. Yippee!
I got to walk the carpet because I play the role of Jane in the film. I describe the role as, “Jane, who gets robbed on the train.” Unfortunately most of my shots were cut from the film, as I discovered sitting in the theater later that night. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t have an amazing time at the premiere!
To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed by all the excitement at first. There were fans who had been waiting to see famous actors walk the carpet for hours – some of them said they’d been waiting since 1 am – and they were ready to collect autographs with their Disney notepads, pens, and some of them even had bought soft white felt Lone Ranger hats that could be signed with Sharpies. I was… so… surprised when people asked me for my autograph. Never in my life has someone who I don’t know actually asked for my autograph.
But for all my professed shock, it didn’t take long before I fell into the swing of things. Pretty soon I was chatting with some of the fans, doing interviews with press outlets along the carpet, and taking photos with people. In the meantime celebrities like Lisa Rinna and Lea Thompson and Corbin Bleu were walking by. The afternoon turned into a blur of excitement. How many times had I dreamed of walking the red carpet, and now it was really happening?
When I woke up on Sunday morning I smiled when I remembered my special night. It was weird coming down off all that adrenaline (and dopamine? Doctor?) and I took it way easy all day, calling my family and friends to tell them what an amazing experience it was.
Here’s to celebrating success and many, many more red carpets!
